Walking in the Prophetic Wisdom for the Seer  "Listen to me, my son, for I know what I'm talking about. Listen carefully to my advice so that wisdom and discernment will enter your heart, and then the words you speak will express what you've learned." Proverbs 5:1-2TPT "Please don't read my mail." If I want you to read my mail, then I will invite you to do so. If you see a wicked spirit when you meet me or talk with me, please do not tell me, not unless you are willing to take the time and effort to fight that spirit with me. If you aren't willing, then refrain from telling me what you have come to "know" in the spiritual realm. When you approach a person, do not "read their mail" unless they invite you. If you look at a person, and you focus on seeing or knowing things about them through your spiritual gifts, and proceed to tell them what you see, this is reading their mail. Reading someone's mail is like opening someone's mail in the natural realm. This is illegal in the natural realm and it is unwise and often hurtful to do it in the spiritual realm. If you begin to see things while they are sharing with you, I suggest that you reject it, and focus on what the person is choosing to share with you. When you walk in the prophetic, you will see, hear and know things in the Spirit. But watch out, because the devil loves to use your gift of spiritual discernment against you and others. He especially loves to use your gift to create division in the body of Christ. If I pick up the phone to reach out to a person I recently met, and the first thing they do is start reading my mail..."I see a spirit of witchcraft and I also see that you were abused by your father as a child," I'd have thoughts such as..."What?!! I have been violated! My privacy has been breached! I just met this person and now they know things about me and my life and it wasn't my choice to reveal this information. Who are they to look into my private life? I just met them." If I shared my thoughts, they would probably respond with "God showed me these things," but I have my doubts that God would do such a thing. In God's Word it says, "Lovers of God think before they speak, but the careless blurt out wicked words meant to cause harm" (Proverbs 15:28TPT). Ok, maybe they didn't intentionally try to do me harm, but they certainly lacked wisdom and discretion. One is not super-spiritual or holy because he can see, hear or know things about someone. The spiritual gifts are for the edification of the Body and should be released with the purpose of wanting to edify, encourage and exhort others. The gifts are not for the puffing up of self. "The more I know in the spiritual realm, the more valuable I am to God and to the Body of Christ." Nope. It's not found in the Word of God. Sadly, the gifts are often released in a way that produces the opposite effect other than edifying and encouraging others. Walking up to a person and telling them you sense a spirit of perversity is not edifying or encouraging. Even if what you see is the truth, it should not be blurted out to him (or to any other person thereafter). Besides, what you sense does not mean that person walks in that spirit. If you are in their home at the time, for example, you could be sensing what a family member is carrying. If we see something that has a negative connotation, we should not immediately share it. The wise and loving thing to do is to take it to prayer. If God showed us something, it's because He's showing us that He wants us to pray for them, and how to pray for them. Using our spiritual knowledge is then being used for the good of another. If the devil uses our gift to show us something about someone, (it will always be negative, i.e. something that would not bring peace or joy or release life) then taking it to prayer, instead of the person, is still the wise and loving thing to do. A person who sees things in the spirit on a daily basis, whether through dreams or visions while awake is called a "seer." To see or know things to the seer, is as normal and commonplace as walking and talking. This tremendous spiritual ability is given to the intercessor because it aids her or him in how and what to pray. So the gifts of knowledge (coming to know something supernaturally) and discernment of spirits (knowledge of spirits in the supernatural realm) are largely used for the purpose of intercession! If I am spending time with a person, and I sense a particular wicked spirit, then I am going to pray to God about what I sense. I will ask Him what He would like me to do with this knowledge. He may ask me to pray for that person to be free of that spirit. He may give me greater clarity and show me that it is a spirit that follows their spouse and is hindering their marriage. He may tell me to tell the person, but this is on rare occasion. Circumstances where it is more acceptable, is when we are in close relationship with the person and they have understanding of the prophetic. If you are part of a group of intercessors who meet on behalf of your church or a ministry, then God may show you things about the church or ministry, and such knowledge and discernment is to be shared with the group so that you know how best to pray. If you are meeting with the group and you see a spirit that is following a fellow intercessor, lift that person in a quick prayer. But do not speak of it, or keep your focus on it because then you would be getting away from the purpose of your group. The devil loves to show Believers the wicked spirits that follow others (including, and especially other Believers) because he wants us to have negative thoughts of them. The devil never shows you good things about others. He will gladly show you there is a spirit of homosexuality during a phone conversation with a friend, with the intent of getting you to believe your friend is a homosexual, but he doesn't show you that the spirit you sense is actually following the guest who is staying in their home. If a person has received Jesus in his heart, then he is a child of God, and has the ability to communicate with God. God DOESN'T ALWAYS NEED US to be the go-between. If the seer or one gifted with spiritual gifts is always telling others what God is saying, then it causes them to not go directly to God. It causes them to seek out the "gifted person" instead of God. This grieves God's heart because God desires that every one of His children have an intimate relationship with Him. God wants to speak to them. God wants to show them things, HIMSELF. Is it bad to prophecy over others? Of course not. The apostle Paul encourages us to do so. However, it is important to use wisdom, discretion, and love while doing it. Do Believers need a prophetic word or to be prophesied over on a weekly basis? I do not feel that it is healthy for the Believer. They should be going to God and positioning themselves to see and hear from Him directly. This is the heart of the Father. This is the heart of the Bridegroom Jesus. This is the heart of Holy Spirit, to be their intimate friend. PRAYER Lord, Your Word says "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him" (James 1:5). I come before you today and ask You to give me a generous portion of the gift of wisdom. Help me to use wisdom, discretion and love when I am ministering to others prophetically. Close my spiritual senses to the things the devil wants me to see (hear and know) and open my eyes to the things that You want me to see. Don't let the devil use my gifts for his purposes. Help me to use my spiritual gifts for the building up of others and for the advancement of Your Kingdom. And I pray that You, the Giver of the gifts, would be glorified through them. Amen.
