An Intercessory Ministry

John 19:34God has highlighted to me the blood and water that flowed from Jesus' side. I believe He is saying that the blood and water are still flowing even today--blood that redeems--water that purifies. We only need to apply them with our faith. THE BLOOD = REDEMPTION Intercessors are "priests" who stand in the gap for God's people and land; praying, repenting, weeping, and pleading with God to have mercy. They remind the Father of the blood of His Son that was poured out for the sins of His people. In Revelation 1:6 we read, "He has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father." Just as the Levitical priests in the Old Testament applied the sacrificial blood to themselves and the people they represented, to make atonement for their sins, intercessors of today can apply or plead the sacrificial blood of Jesus Christ, to atone for the sins of those they represent (or intercede for). In Exodus 24:8, we read "So Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people, and said, “Behold the blood of the covenant, which the Lord has made with you in accordance with all these words.” As priests, we remind God of His promises, such as "The blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin" (1 John 1:7), and "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus" (Romans 3:23-24). I pray that intercessors will speak these words--God's words--of redemption over themselves, the people and the land. THE WATER = PURIFICATION The Levitical priests in the Old Testament cleansed themselves and the altar with both water and sacrificial blood. In reference to the water, it was used to wash, cleanse, or purify. In Leviticus 8:6, it states, "Then Moses had Aaron and his sons come near and washed them with water." Theologian Charles Ellicot comments on this verse "thus symbolizing their purification from sin." In Hebrews 10, Paul states, let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water" (Hebrews 10:22). In my last post entitled "Gift of Travail," I spoke of God using intercessors' tears to purify or cleanse. I gave the example of God using me and my travailing tears to purify a pastor(s). In actuality, God can use an intercessor's tears to purify a person, group of people, a church, city, nation or many nations. I believe that the water that is flowing from Jesus' side (heart) today is the tears from God's intercessors. God gives to His intercessors His heart. And if His heart is broken over the loss of a child, or church or city, then His intercessors' hearts will be broken also. This manifests outwardly, such as in travailing tears-weeping, wailing and groaning. It is these very tears that I believe God is using to cleanse or purify; water that is pure and clean and which flowed from the heart of God. In the book of Job, we read “He will deliver one who is not innocent, and he will be delivered through the cleanness of your hands” (Job 30:22). THE BLOOD AND THE WATER King David prayed to God, "Cleanse me with hyssop that I may be clean; wash me, make me whiter than snow" (Psalm 51:7). Hyssop was an instrument used for cleansing by the priests in the Old Testament. Priests took a branch from a hyssop bush and used it to sprinkle the sacrificial blood or water to cleanse themselves, the people, and the altar. I pray that God's intercessors may be instruments in His hand to sprinkle the Blood and water that flows from Jesus' side; to release redemption and purification to themselves, the people they represent and their lands. DECREES I decree the blood and water that flows from the side of Jesus Christ will be poured out over America to redeem and purify her. I decree America shall be made pure by the clean water that flows from the eyes of God's intercessors. I decree America shall be redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ, as professed by God's intercessors. "This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood." 1 John 5:6Comments are closed.
