An Intercessory Ministry

Fruit basket, Licensed with Shutterstock Sally* flew alone from Utah to DC for the 4-day national prayer gathering Communion America. On the day she arrived she headed to the National Mall for the main rally that was scheduled between 7 and 9:30 p.m. As the prayer and worship commenced at 10 p.m. in the 50 tents representing the 50 states, Sally stopped in at the Volunteer Tent and told them that she’d like to volunteer. She thought that perhaps she could help collect garbage on the grounds of the Mall. However, staff responded, “We are going to send you to the RI tent to pray as this tent has no one to lead in prayer and worship from 12 to 2 a.m.” Sally said, “Ok, sure.” While Sally was making her way down the Mall to the RI tent, I was worshipping in song with 3 other people during the 10 to 12 a.m. set. I hadn’t planned on being there because I had made a date with my warm and cozy bed for 9 p.m. I was extremely tired from the day’s events and wanted to be rested up for the following 3 days’ activities. However, my plans were obviously not God’s plans. You see, He happened to answer my prayer when I asked Him to lead my steps throughout the 4-day event and one of His plans was for me and Sally to meet. So around 9 p.m., when my hotel roommate was preparing to lead in the RI tent, Holy Spirit prompted me to join her. I thought, “I’ll just stay an hour, until 11:00.” Later I realized that that was another Holly idea, not God’s. At 11:40 p.m. while I was singing my heart out to God, I opened my eyes and saw a radiant young woman standing close to me and she too was worshipping God. I watched tears silently fall from her face. When our group broke into spontaneous prayer, Sally too lifted her voice in prayer, and it was obvious to me that this was one fiery GenZer! From that moment I felt drawn to Sally like a magnet. At 12 a.m. when our set was finished, I introduced myself to Sally and then immediately, I felt the Father’s love bubbling out of me and over Sally. As Sally received words of love and affirmation from the Father, her eyes became waterfalls of gratefulness. God’s love was bringing healing to Sally’s heart and she knew it. She said to me, “God is healing my heart.” I told her that my ministry’s mission is to heal hearts of survivors of sexual abuse and sex trafficking. She responded, “I was sexually abused as a child and I was trafficked from the age of 17 through 24.” It was then that I understood that this was a “divine appointment.” Prior to our parting, Sally and I exchanged phone numbers and then she said, “I love you.” How could this be? We just met minutes ago! But I too shared the exact same sentiment, so I responded to Sally “I love you.” Later that evening I felt that God said to me, “Sally is the fruit of your prayers.” Not only my prayers however, but the prayers of the faithful intercessors who have been praying alongside me for the past 5 years on the monthly prayer call 50 States Nightwatch, whose mission is to pray for an end to sexual abuse and sex trafficking. When God called me to start this national prayer ministry, He said to me, “If you want fruit then you have to get to the root.” This means to pray and fight to drive out the spirits behind sexual abuse and sex trafficking in America. These past years intercessors have been faithful to stand at the gates of America and fight alongside me, month after month, year after year, yet rarely seeing the fruit of our prayers, but believing that God has heard every prayer and is moving on our behalf. Every so often we will observe a victory, such as in the passing of a new law or the exposure of a human trafficking ring, but then there are times, when God not only allows us to see fruit from afar, but to taste the fruit—to touch the fruit—to embrace the fruit…like Sally. What joy! What a gift to me and my fellow intercessors! Thank you Father for giving me the privilege of meeting Sally and the opportunity to see Your glory manifest in her. After hearing her testimony over the phone, it is nothing short of a miracle that she is not only still alive but possesses her sanity. When I look at her face and hear her voice, I don’t see or hear the ugliness that she experienced. I only see Your beauty in her face and I only hear the voice of a grateful, sweet and joyful young lady, free from chains of bitterness and regret. I give You thanks and praise Father, and I am thankful that I get to be Sally’s mentor in this next season. Please continue to use me as Your instrument of love. Amen. *Note-Sally is not the actual name. The meaning of the name Sally is Princess and this young lady is truly the beloved daughter of the King. She says to the Shepherd-King... "I am truly his rose, the very theme of his song. I’m overshadowed by his love, like a lily growing in the valley!" He says to her... "Yes, you are my darling companion. You stand out from all the rest. For though the thorns surround you, you remain as pure as a lily, more than all others."
